Driver, White--My descendant William J Driver and his family lived in Corinth from the 1850s until the end of the century. Mr. Driver built what is now called the O.C. Smith House in Corinth (I think that's the name of it). He had kids including my Great-grandfather, Andrew Howard Driver. A. H. Driver had five kids...and that is the nature of my inquiry. I have accounted for everybody with a lot of info, except for one of AH kids, who I have almost nothing on..I was hoping you might have a marriage or death record or something. Her name was Mary "Mollie" Varina Driver. She was born in 1865, the youngest of five kids of A. H. Driver (4 survived). Her older sister, Eliza Driver, married a man named Frank White in 1883, but then died 7 months later. White then married her sister, according to White Family records. They have his new wife as sister Sarah Driver, but Sarah died at 11 months old. The only sister he could have married was Mary Driver...the third sister is accounted for. The last record of her is the 1880 census which has her living at home, albeit with incorrect age. All I know beyond that is that Frank White ended up living and dying in Colo..presumably with his wife... Also, there is an old family bible that lists her death in 1925..but with no explanation. Can you help? if so, please email me. Thanks a lot, Andy Brandon. andybrandon33@hotmail.com 09-03

Stuart/Stewart, Snow, McCullough/McCullock--I
have been trying to find my Stuart family. I have started with
practically
no info, but I have a few clues and I was hoping someone could get me
through
this brick wall. Meredith Leonard Stuart was my great
great
grandfather. I was able to find that Meredith was born in Iuka,
MS,
approximately 1858. I found this from his marriage license to Ethinda
Snow when they married in Mount Vernon, IL, December 25,
1880.
I was told when I tried to find the birth records in Tishimingo Co.
that
the records were spread between Prentiss and Alcorn counties for
the1860.
I also need to add that Meredith had a sister Leona Stuart, but
her birthdate is unknown. Meredith died in Spokane, WA, and was
mentioned
with the name Charley... Also, Meredith's father was Andrew
Jackson
Stuart, his signature. Of course it is recorded as Andrew
Jackson
Stewart, A. J. Stuart, and A. J. Stewart and when signed up with the
Mississippi
cavalry he was listed as Jackson Stuart. Andrew may have joined
the
Confederate cavalry, company K, 2nd regiment in 1863 in Atalla
county.
While Andrew was away serving in the Confederate cavalry, his wife was
killed and the children were left on a railroad siding. What
cities
were on the rail road lines in that area? The children, or at
least
Meredith, went to stay with a family named McCullough/McCullock
where he was given the nickname of "Charley" Stuart. When
Andrew came home he couldn't find his wife or children. So where
did he go? I understand there were pensions issued to the
Confederate
vets. Where are the records? Another thought was that it
was
said Andrew was killed at Seven pines, but if he hadn't joined up until
1863, was that possible, since the battle of Seven Pines was in 1862,
but
in Seven Pines, Texas, was the last battle of the Civil War, and those
that were defeated merely laided down their arms and went home.
Can
someone know how to find the birth record for Meredith? Find a
census
record for 1850, 1860, 1870 1880? Have pension record info?
Find the wife/mother's name? Andrew and his wife's birth
places?
Anything to find the family and perhaps Andrew had a second
family.
I would love to get enough information to find the living
descendants.
Can anyone offer me help? Chris Fox, Mount Vernon, WA. foxhunt@gte.net

Who would I write for birth records for 1858? I discovered from
my great grandfathers marriage license that he was born in Iuka, MS, in
1858, Tishomingo County. His name was Merideth Leonard
Stuart/Stewart.
I know his father's name was listed as Andrew Jackson Stuart/Stewart.
I would like to find connections. Merideth also had a sister Leona.
Possibly Andrew had a brother, John, and a sister, Leona.
I have no idea who Andrew's wife was or where he was from. I am
hoping
that I can get information to break down this brick wall. I was
told
that Andrew Jackson Stuart (his spelling) may have joined the
confederate
cavalry in 1863 at Attala county. I have a service record.
It was also mentioned that Andrew's wife was killed and the children
were
left on a railroad siding. They were taken in by a family named McCullough/McCullock...
where Merideth got the nickname of Charley. It is
maddening
to have names and dates but missing places to search. This is
about
all I have for information. Any help? Thank you for your
kind
attention. Chris Fox, Mount Vernon, WA. foxhunt@gte.net

Elizabeth was born in Tennessee, maybe Hickman Co. .They are listed in the 1845 census of Tishomingo Co., MS, page #18. They had a son Thomas Carter in 1845 in MS. He married Mary Hancock in Alcorn Co., MS, in 1867. John and Elizabeth had these children: Nancy Carter born 1846, MS, James Carter born in 1849, Mary Carter born in 1850, and John Carter born in 1852.
