McFarland/McFarlane, Terrell, Williamson, Arnold, Sumans--Searching McFarlane or McFarland in Franklin Co., MS 1800-1870's. John McFarlane (Jamacia or Scotland)& Sarah Williamson (N. or S. Carolina). Children: Mary McFarlane, Elijah McFarlane, John Paxton McFarlane/McFarland, Elias McFarlane/McFarland, Alice McFarlane, Jane McFarlane and 3 unknown children. John Paxton McFarlane (McFarland) married Sarah Terrell. Searching for Mcfarland in Franklin County, MS, about 1850-1860's. John P. McFarland born Dec. 1825, married Sarah Terrell & had children: Nancy Ann McFarland, Sarah McFarland, John J. McFarland, James Andrew McFarland (my own great grandfather!), Mary Jane McFarland, Martha E. McFarland. Elias McFarland (about1820) was married ( several times). One of wives : Susanna Elizabeth Arnold and they had children: Sarah J. McFarland, Mary Alice McFarland, Martha Ann McFarland, Lorenzo Dow McFarland. Elijah McFarlane (about 1819) married Charlotte Sumans had children: John Duncan McFarlane, Mary McFarlane, Thomas McFarlane- 1855, Jesse McFarlane- 1857, Rhoda McFarlane- 1859. Rushing, Emfinger--Do you have any information on Alma Rushing. She married James M. Emfinger, supposedly in Franklin County, MS. I am looking for her parents, however cannot find their marriage certificate at the courthouse. The marriage date I have is 23 June 1889. Cupit, Rutledge, Downes, Nix, Wells, Watson, Wactor--I am completing my application to the Daughters of the American Revolution. I am seeking information to link James "Jim" Cupit to his parents Mary Rutledge and John Cupit. The unproven information that I have on James Cupit is as follows: James (Jim) Cupit was born February 5, 1824 and died July 12, 1906. His parents were Mary Rutledge and John Cupit. Mary Rutledge is the daughter of John Rutledge and Elizabeth Downes. Mary Rutledge was born October 8, 1802 in Kershaw County, MS. John Cupit was born July 4, 1787. Mary Rutledge and John Cupit were married on December 23, 1819 in Franklin County, MS. James Cupit had several wives during his lifetime, including: Mary Caroline Nix, Frances Susan Wells, Josephine Watson and Susan Wactor. Additional Information on James Cupit: Served in Co. E., 4th Miss Calvary, CSA. He was a member of the Board of Supervisors, Ward 7, Franklin Co., MS. He was a Justice of the Peace prior to the Civil War. In summary, I need information that proves the James Cupit was the son of Mary Rutledge Cupit and John Cupit (Birth Record, Death Certificate etc). Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
