Kelley/Kelly--I am looking for my great grandfather Thomas Kelley (or maybe spelled Thomas Kelly) and his wife Fannie (_____) Kelley.  I am 84 years old and living in Texas.  There is a Thomas Kelly on the 1860 census in the state of Mississippi, County of Jackson; Ocean Springs married to A F Kelly (my great grandmothers name was Fannie) and a son Albert Kelley (my grandfather's name was Albert, the census shows he was born in 1860, and my records show 1861)  I do know that Albert  moved to Texas sometime before 1885, (he married my grandmother in 1885 in Lamar County, Texas).  We do not know if Thomas Kelley and Fannie came to Texas or remained in Mississippi and died.  I am writing a book about my life and would like to include this information.  Also, I have a fourteen year old grandson that is named ThomasKelley.  Thank you for any help that you can give me.  Robbie Brown. robbie.brown@earthlink.net    10-03

Mays, Echols, Thompson, Cemetery book--Do you have a cemetery book for Jackson County?  I am looking for the burial place of Moses Wynn Mays and perhaps his mother, Prudence Echols Mays.  He died 24 September 1875 and was born in Pittsylvania Co., VA, 16 November 1821.  His three youngest children, Edwin Mays, born 20 January 1869; Drury Douglas Mays, born 30 May 1870; Lilly Mays, born 8 April 1875, all lived and died in Moss Point, MS.  I presume they are buried there, and if their father, Moses Wynn Mays died there, would also have been buried there.  Since he was the oldest child, it is presumed that his mother, Prudence Echols Mays, may have left their home in Dyer Co., TN, after the death of her husband, Tapley Mays, and went to live with Moses.  Her burial place cannot be located in the Dyer County, TN, area.  Moses' last wife, _____ Thompson Mays is said to have died at Moss Point, MS.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.  Bob Mays, Alcorn County Genealogical Society, Corinth, MS.  bmays@e1w.com    07-03

County history--My name is Lalita Edwards Gray, & I live in IN.  My ancestors lived in Moss Point, MS.  Some counties have published County History Books, and I was wondering if Jackson County has one.  Thank you for any info.  My email address is  lejg4@att.net    05-03

Hart--I am trying to find the location of my father's grave, Marley Tee Hart.  He died between 1964 and 1966 in Jackson, Mississippi.  He is buried in Floral Hills Cemetery.  Years ago when we tried to send flowers, they said they couldn't find a record of his grave.  They said that the plots were listed by who purchased them, rather than who was in them.  Any ideas on how I can find this out?  kay.ledbetter@givaudan.com    05-03

Dodge, Roberts, Cunningham, Elder, Mayo--Seeking info on Dodge Family, Samuel Dodge, Orin Dodge, Orin's family... dates would be from Samuel Caswell Dodge & Elizabeth Dodge's arrival about 1860, to (grandson, Samuel  Wm. Dodge & Susie (Roberts) Dodge's departure, late 1930's.  Both were from the Escatawpa area.  She was daughter to Willis Roberts & Margaret "Cecil?" Roberts.  Sam Dodge worked for Mr. Mayo at the Paper Mill, Moss Point.  He and Susie had three children:  Kenneth Dodge, Wanda Dodge, Scoot Dodge.  Samuel Caswell Dodge and son, Orin Caswell Dodge, both worked in the timber/sawmill industry.  Orin Dodge's 1st wife, "Lenna" (Elder, of Elder's Ferry) Dodge were there until she passed away, and he, later, in 1906.  Samuel Wm. Dodge was at the paper mill, and he and Susie were prominent people in Jackson, County, (Moss Point/Pascagoula/Kreole) until he left to go on the road (with the mill), probably about 1935-40.  Also am hitting a brick wall for Roberts Family... Willis Roberts & "Margaret?" Cecilia (Cunningham) Roberts, births (him)1847, (her)1855... married in 1874, they had eleven children, my grandmother, Susie (Roberts) Marslette, being one of them.  Any info on these famillies would be appreciated and treasured...  Thanks, W. L. (Smith) Sakowski. wl_ski@msn.com    01-03

Howard--I am looking for information on my gt gt grandfather.  His name is Francis M Howard.  I have no information on him before his move to Ohio.  He was born about 1844 in Jackson County, Miss.  He joined the Confederate Army on 12-3-1861 in Corinth Miss.  He moved to Ohio.  He joined the Union Army 9-16-1864 in Cincinnatti, Ohio.  It is said he was disowned by his family for serving with both the Confedeate and the Union in the Civil War.  He married Isabelle Gray on 5-17-1866 Mercer County, Ohio.  They had 2 daughters:  Nancy Ellen Howard and Margaret Louisa Howard.  He died 11-20-1869 Mercer County, Ohio.  Any help on this family will be deeply appreciated.  Sandra. Bilbo, Ferrill--Is there a listing of cemetery records in Jackson County available?  I am looking for the graves of my great-grandparents which are reported to be buried in VanCleave. Sarah Louise Ferrill Bilbo died about 1897, and Seabron Hearn Bilbo died about 1915. Thanks for any guidance you can give me.   Sarah Wright.   Operasarah@aol.com11-02

Danzler--Seeking information on Danzler family of Moss Point, MS.  Recently purchased home built by them in late 1890's located on Danzler St.  Was told they were influential in the great lumber industry of that time.  Also seeking information on house history.   It had been used as a boarding house for many years and around 25 years ago had a great fire which gutted the entire upper floor.  May God bless your day, Karolyn. cadillac-kar@webtv.net
