Sims, Collins, Loper--William Marion Sims was a Civil War veteran from Copiah County, MS, who relocated his family to Jones County in 1897. He received a Land Patent but died shortly thereafter, certainly before 1900 as his wife, Sarah Penelope Collins, appears as a widow in the 1900 census of Jones County. I have been unable to locate William and Sarah's graves. Considering that their son, William Collins Sims, married Bertha Alice Loper in Jasper County, they may have lived near enough to the county line to be buried in Jasper County. Does anyone have a William Sims or Sarah Collins listed in a Jasper County cemetery? Thanks for checking. Ralph Sims, AR. Ralph.Sims@dfjclr.falconjet.com 05-04

Bender, Bender Plantation, Grierson--I have been interested in the Bender Plantation in Montrose, Mississippi, since I learned that Col. Grierson (of the Civil War Union Army) spent a night there as he traveled through the South on his famous Raids (a movie made about these raids, too). I am wondering if you have any info that you would share with me on the Benders family of Montrose. I am in Jackson, Mississippi, but spent four of the happiest years of my life in Louin, Mississippi (high school years). I understand that Bender's Plantation is two miles west of Montrose. No house remains, and I don't know as yet it's exact location. Would appreciate any thing you can share. Gwyn. PattiGwynLav@AOL.com 03-04

Possible the name of the man Johniken, maybe Coleman Johniken, and the name of the man Johnston was only known as "Wash" Johnston. Possible first name, George Johnston. I am unable to locate any marriages for Effie Blackwell to Johniken or Johnston. Anyone knowing this family, please email me at bjyates@netdot.com 05-03
