Doug Sweazy's Plantation--I was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and my grandfather often talked of living on the Doug Sweazy Plantation in Jones County.  Has anyone heard of this Plantation, and exactly where was it located? Stone, Rowland--I'm looking for any information on my father and his family.  They lived in Laurel, MS.  My father's name was Floyd Ellis Stone born about 1910 or 1911,the youngest of 9 kids.  He was married to Cleo Rowland about 1945 or 1946.  She was a singer in a night club for a time. Holmes, Pride, Dykes, White, Sinclair, Grayson, Levy, Ash, Williams--My name is Elizabeth Williams. I am looking for some of the family members of my great grandparents Dona Pride Holmes (my great grandmother) and her husband Pleas Holmes Sr.  Dona and Pleas were married on February 4, 1885.  Their children's names were Elizabeth Purse Dykes (my grandmother), Priscilla Holmes White, Elnora Holmes Sinclair, Emma Holmes, Elijah "Buddy" Holmes, Oscar Holmes, Robert Holmes, Eugene Holmes, James E. Holmes, Mattie Holmes, Phillip Holmes, Nathan Holmes, Ottawa "Sane" Holmes, and Pleas Holmes Jr. (Pleas Jr. was known to play the flute).  The children were born and raised in Pickens and Green County, Alabama.  Later, they moved to Sumter County, Alabama in an area called Coatopa, which is located in Livingston, Alabama.  Dona and Pleas Sr. later moved to Delta Mississippi in an area called Glendora Mississippi in Tallahatchie County.  Twelve of the children moved with them (Priscilla, Elnora, Robert, Mattie, Oscar, Pleas Jr., Eugene, Phillip, Nathan, James, Elijah, and Ottaway).  Two of the daughters stayed in Alabama (Emma and Elizabeth).  Elizabeth Purse Dykes (my grandmother) had nine children. Their names were Willie Dykes, Frank Dykes, Joseph Dykes, Donnie Dykes Grayson, Susie Dykes Levy, Booker Dykes, Minnie Dykes Ash, Mary Dykes, and Elnora Dykes Williams (my mother).  My Grandmother, Elizabeth Purse Dykes, lost touch with her Family in the late 1930?s or early 1940?s. Without knowing what to do or who to contact this has been an open case in our family life.  If you have or know where I might obtain any information regarding the history, or whereabouts of any of these individuals or their families, I would appreciate any assistance which you might be able to provide. I am specifically looking for any documented information such as birth records, marriage records, midwife records, death records, obituaries, Census records, United States Army Records, prison records, Railroad Worker's records, newspaper articles, etc.   "that made the town, the yellow pine capital of the world and labelled it the new pasadena"   Look for Elijah L. Holmes Sr. born 1885 in State of Alabama.  Moved to Mississippi in early 1900.  look for articles in the December Editor 1928, Industrial and development issue of the Laurel Dailey Leader. Saunders, Kennedy, Delk--I am seeking any info on a Caroline Saunders who I believe was in this area and married an Aaron Kennedy and moved to Texas. She may have had a brother Joseph Saunders but am unsure.  I am seeking info on Aaron Kennedy who was born in Mississippi on March 3,1834. I can find no record until he turned up in Texas in 1869. Brady/Braddy, Sanford--I am looking for any information regarding my grandfather: Charles Sanford Brady or Braddy.  Supposedly he was the brother of Addison Brady, Franklin Brady, Pickens Brady, Louton Brady.  They were sons of Mary Elizabeth Sanford Brady and James Brady.  Family stories state that they walked to Mississippi from South Carolina just prior to the Civil War on the Pine Tar Trail to a place near Williamsburg, Mississippi.  They had also resided in a place called The Free and Independent  State of Jones [also in Mississippi].  The only family member I have been able to locate is a Pickens Brady in Prentiss [city of...] so I know they were in the area.  Please help.... Johnson, Gann--I am looking for any information regarding Samuel Joseph Johnson who appears in the 1880 Census at age 22 living with his sister and her children and a boarder.  He married Susan Gann in Scott County in 1882 and returned to Ellisville where at least two of his children were born - Mabel Gann and James Gann.  He was a dry goods merchant who later established the S.J. Johnson Department store in Jackson.  Am interested in any and all information about him, his sister, his children's births, etc. and when he may have left Ellisville for Jackson.  Also, is there any record of his parents names?  Thanks for any help you can give me.  Dogma703@aol.com   05-03

Shotts--Hello, I am looking to find the name on the headstone of the Shotts that was buried in Lebanon Cemetery.  The grave is located close to the church there, next to some Sumralls.  Also, if anyone knows where any other Shotts graves are in the county, I would appreciate any help in identifying them.  Thank you very much.  Until later,  James F. Smith, Mixon, Ulmer--Seeking info regarding the family of John R. Smith born 1818 & Matilda (Mixon?) Smith born 1812.  They are listed  in a book about Jasper County, MS, families as coming from GA, across AL.  Their first group of children are listed as born in AL, and the last ones, MS.  Matilda must've died, as John married (2nd) Julia Ulmer, and they are listed in Fed. Hilbun/Hilburn, Hill--I have the following information and would like to get exact dates, maiden names, etc. for wives on John Hilbun and Daniel Hilbun.  Daniel is my grandson's great great grandfather.  John W. H. Hilbun born 1839 MS, death unknown.  Married to Susan ? born 1833 MS.  He married Mary C.  born 1898 in Al.    John and Susan had two children: Stephen F. Hilbun born December 1, 1857, in Ms and died October 20, 1931, in MS.  Daniel Benjamin Hilbun born 1874 and died ? .  Daniel married Veasley Pearl Hill and they had two children: Benjamin Bryan Hilburn (he later added an "r" to his name to make it Hilburn) and Verlie Pearl Hilbun.  Any information as to dates, places, maiden names, etc. would be appreciated.  Barbara Nugent. barbaraandjerry@verizon.net    11-02

Sanderson, Jones, Thrower--Locating information on Sanderson/Jones family circa 1920's?  I am interested in finding information on the following people: George David Sanderson who married Lula B. Touchstone--I have secondary information that Green Touchstone moved to Jones County early in 19th century. I believe his son was Jesse Touchstone who is shown on early censuses.
