Ward, Moore, Johnson, Harris--Thomas J. Ward died in 1852. He and his wife, Margaret Harris Moore Ward and their son, John J. Ward died Nov. 1864 and are buried in Sardinia Cemetery in the Oakland area. I need any Newspaper obits or information on this family. They are my GGGrandfater and GGGrandmother. J. J. Ward could have been in the Civil War. I thought he died in Franklin TN and was brought home for burial. There is a JJ Ward enlisted in TN army. After many years of reseach, I cannot prove this. There is another J. J. Ward enlisted in TN from Huntsville AL. A family contacted me to let me know they were sure that the one killed in Franklin, TN, was buried in Georgia. They had been to his grave many times. Well, so had I been to mine many times. My family came from York County, SC to Walker Co., AL and on to Water Valley, MS by 1850. I think an Obit from a Newspapper is the only way that I can prove which J. J. is mine. I have Letters written before the Civil War from this family. They were Merchants and land owners. J. J. was suposed to have been a Doctor. His wife was Elizabeth M. Johnson from York Co., SC. Her father was Esq. James M. Johnson. She did not apply for a pension. Either she died or remarried. I am desperate for information. I am 62 years old, and I have spent half my life trying to put this family together. J. J. Ward and Elizabeth had one child that lived to adulthood. His name was Thomas J. Ward, born in 1848 in Water Valley. I can share a great deal of information with people from Water Valley on the Ward, Harris, Moore famlies. If you can help with this I would be so greatful. Maybe I can help others from the area. Brenda E. Bryant--Thank you so very much. bbryant251@aol.com 09-03

Dodson/Dotson, Cobb--Would it be possible to get my gggrandfather's death certificate. The last resource that I found was the 1880 US census in Lafayette, MS. Beat 3. His name was listed incorrectly as Joe Dotson. It should be Joseph Dodson. He was living with his daughter, Emma (Dotson) Cobb, and son-in-law, Thomas Cobb. He was 70 at that time. I don't know how much longer he lived. He and wife, Elizabeth Dodson, had 11 children in the 1850 census in Panola Co. Emma was born about 1855. He is originally from AL. Hopefully his death certificate will list his parents. Please advise. Thank You, Earl Dodson, Retired Fire Captain. earldodson@webtv.net 01-03
