Turnbull, Emmahka, Carney--Seeking data on John Turnbull & Robert Turnbull of Mississippi. In a document from the American Papers, Public Land Domain, is a listing/census of "Names of Indians Owning Farms" with Capt. John Turnbull residing on 40 A on "Yazoo Valley flat" and Robert Turnbull living on "Yellow Busa, east side"...also listed near the Turnbulls is Choctaw Emmahka, widow, living on 3 cultivated acres on the "Puttahcahcocah Creek" - she is the widow of half-Choctaw Jeremiah Carney, signer of Doak's & Dancing Rabbit Creek Treaties who died in early l848 in MS (exact location of death now being researched).  Other waterways listed in the area of the Turnbulls/Emmahka were: Yellow Bush River, Big Sandy and Teyocktahliah Creek.  Can anyone identify the location of this area in the l848-49 era?  Also, where might I access a Tax Roll/Census for this area?  June Carney Pollard, TN -- many thanks!  email: junesam@bellsouth.net      07-04

Price, Holliday--I'm looking for any information about my great great grandfather John Arthur Price.  His son Thomas Harry Price was the father of my grandfather Herman Henry Price.  I know John Arthur was born around 1842 and 1843 and He died 11 Oct. 1893.  He married Martha Holliday in March of 1863.  Does anyone know who the father of John Arthur Price was?  hprice@porterville.k12.ca.us      02-04

Smith, Thornton, Taylor, Johnson, Kirkpatrick, Ward, Myers--Hello There!  I'm researching Jim Smith who died in Rolling Fork, Mississippi on May 15, 1966. (SS# 587-16-2030).  According to the 1900 Census he was born Sept, 1867. The SSDI has the birthdate Sept. 30, 1867.  I would like to confirm whether he was or wasn't the Jim Smith who had several wives; the first of which was my great grandmother, Virginia Thornton Smith. The names of some of his children were:  Josephine "Josie" Smith (born March 1887) who married Mr. Taylor; William Smith (born January 1893);  Annie Smith (born September 1895); Ethel Lee Smith (born September 7, 1897) married Printis Johnson * my grandmother.  Children with 2nd/3rd wives: Mattie Smith (born about 1908) who married Mr. Kirkpatrick; Hattie Smith who married Mr. Ward; Stepdaughter Mary Myers (born 1895).  His 2nd and 3rd wives may have been Alice Smith and Patience Smith. With so many wives I need clarification. Can you help me by confirming if he was related to the first group of children?  This would help me tremendously. I'm hoping for a match, but I must first connect the dates with either his first wife or his first group of children.  Sincerely, B. Hudson.  THbomjjg@aol.com    02-03
