Brown2--I have a Brown family Bible with Family Records from the 1818 to 1865. I am trying to identify some of the names listed. Wiley Brown moved with his family? to Texas around 1870. Lee, Hubbard, Payne, Mangum--Researching the Lee, Payne family links. I am researching my great grandfather's family history. His name Milton "Mitt" Washington Lee born Dec 8, 1870, in Simpson County, Mississippi. He expired Jan 16, 1945. Mitt's parents were slaves of Milton Chester Beauregard Lee, Esq., and wife Fannie Lou Lee in Simpson County (Skiffer Community). Their names Daniel "Dan" Webster Lee and Harriet Lee. Daniel was born in 1808 in NC; however I'm not certain where Harriet was born. Daniel's parents were also born in NC, but I don't have any other information. Stories passed down through the years boasted that Master Beau was a descendant of General Robert E. Lee, but this has not been confirmed. Mitt's siblings from Daniel's (Dan's) first marriage were Mary Lee and Preston Lee. Daniel's (Dan) second wife was Mariah Hubbard. They had three boys Willie Lee, John Lee and William Lee. Mitt married Mattie Payne born Mar 1877 of Simpson County Mississippi in 1891. They had 11 children Obed Lee, Chellie Lee, Dan Lee, Hugh Lee, Ransom Lee, Onus Lee, Rachel Lee, Mattie Lee, Magdalene Lee, Ellison Lee and Gird Lee. Mitt's second wife Gertrude Mangum born May 12, 1888 of Simpson County Mississippi. They had 2 children Maudie Lee, Rosa Bena Lee. Gertrude's first husband was Lewis/Louis Mangum from Simpson County, also. Any links? Or suggestions on how to pinpoint the NC connections or more detailed info on the Simpson County relatives? Our family is related to the Payne, Grantham, Durr, Lee, Magee, Weathersby, Mangum, McLaurin families. etc.... which reside/resided in/around Simpson County. Thanks so much!
