Table to Convert Minutes and Seconds to Decimal Degrees
It is possible to use these tables to find Minutes, Seconds, and Tenths of Seconds from Decimal Coordinates by subtracting. Find the decimal in the Minutes table that is equal to or less than your decimal coordinate, and subtract that decimal from your decimal, recording the Minutes equivalent to the decimal subtracted. Now, find in the Seconds table, the decimal equal to or less than the remainder from Minutes, recording the Seconds and subtracting the seconds decimal. If there is still a remainder, find the nearest Tenths of Seconds to the remainder from Seconds and record. The errors should be similar to those above in converting to Decimals.
Note: DD.DDDDD is slightly more accurate than DD MM.MMM
(fractional
minutes may be found by dividing seconds by 60) which itself is
slightly
more accurate than DD MM SS.S and DD MM SS is even less accurate.
DD=degrees MM=minutes SS=seconds Here are approximate
